About

Have you ever wondered why so many people prefer using aluminum diamond plates for their many construction projects instead of just regular metal plates? The main reason for this is because these plates are a lot more durable and do not rust easily. So why not get some yourself?

Buying stainless steel sheets

Nowadays, there are many people who have started using stainless steel sheets for their home projects. While many people just prefer using it because it’s better, for others it is the only option because of environmental constraints. And if you take out the exotic products & grades then you will only be left with three options as such. Now before we go through these options, let me tell you in brief about a few of the misconceptions that people have. Firstly, they think that this metal is stain proof. This is not true. It can stain and can even corrode or rust. It just doesn't happen as easily as other metals. It will easily stand up to most heavy resistance in commercial and home applications. And the other most common misconception that people have is regarding the thickness of these sheets. Stainless steel sheets cannot be more than 3 mm thick. Thicker than 3 mm and it won't be a sheet.

Now as far as the grade of steel to use is concerned, 304 & 316 are both well. Both of them are versatile, beautiful and tough. But apart from this, the main reason why so many contractors prefer it is because of its excellent welding characteristics. Grade 316 obviously has quite a few advantages as compared to 304 and this is why it is also called marine grade stainless steel. It can also be known as food quality stainless steel and can be used in food & pharmaceutical handling as well.

As far as the size of these sheets is concerned, they can range from anywhere between 0.4 mm to 2.5 mm in thickness. Anything lower than that and you will be looking for foil. Anything higher and you will be looking for a plate. It is only choosing the thickness that is difficult. Getting it cut into the desired size isn't too expensive. Even a laser cutter will be able to easily cut these sheets for you with accuracy and ease.

And lastly, the finish is basically determined by the rolling of the sheets. There are quite a few different finishes & patterns for you to choose from but some of the basic ones are brushed, satin and mirror. Some people even resort to plastic coatings on top of these finishes for further protection. So what are you waiting for? Get the stainless steel sheets that you've always wanted today.
